A CARTESIAN THEORY OF ACTION

What lies between you and me is more than a distance. It is more than a direction. It is more than a cell phone connection. Greater than an email thread. Not capable of being bridged simply by hopping aboard and taking a plane, train, or bus route.

What lies between us is a landscape of mental patterns that are the blueprints of what we share. These mental schematics, are like boxes which frame what we know, what we want to know, where we are anchored, where we would like to go.

When you think about it, we are always "boxing" our lives. We don't simply act. We think about our actions in schematic contexts. When you think about action in a direction, you are taking a Cartesian approach to action. "I think. Therefore, I am." When you visualize or think about the coordinates and relationships between yourselves and the field of action in which you are engaged and the objects upon which you are focusing and directing your action, you are specifying Cartesian coordinates for your action.

These can be blueprinted, diagrammed, captured, boxed. Boxing your thoughts in a direction of action is a rich, fulfilling way of living and acting. It's Cartesian!

The MasterList is a tool for boxing the schematics of action in a direction.

When you take a Cartesian approach to taking action in a direction, you are doing more than simply forcing your energy to interact with someone or some object, unthinkingly. You are dividing the space between (Deixis) you and many multiple persons and objects in any particular field of analysis into space-filling shapes that have co-ordinates relative to one another. Not only the persons and objects, but also the direction and distance of the co-ordinates, can be seen to have patterns, contexts, sub-interactions.

Visualizing and analyzing the complexity that lies between you and I can be a rich, fulfilling activity. And, it has benefits. If I have boxed the field(s) that lie between us and you have done likewise, is our knowledge of our situation, our context, our mutual reality, our collaboration, more susceptible to accuracy and precision of interaction, or is it not?

Some interactions are small and don't require this level of commitment. Is that true of all interactions?

What makes us bigger than we think we are? Our minds. So, we need to think outside the box in which we have confined ourselves and start looking at all the boxes in all the directions.

That's a giant act of individuality that is the essence of our human being. And, to be free, and safe, we need to re-seize our individuality by boxing the concepts of who we are, where we are, what direction we are going in, who else is out there, what lies beyond, and what lies between.

Again, The MasterList is a Cartesian tool for just that. It is our offering. It is not simply a software solution. When it comes to a Cartesian approach to a theory of action, it is "the" software solution.
